Occupational Therapy
The primary goal of occupational therapy for special children is to promote their independence and participation in daily activities, improve their physical and cognitive abilities, enhance social skills, and support their overall development. Occupational therapists play a crucial role in helping children with special needs reach their full potential and lead fulfilling lives.
Academic Readiness
Academic readiness refers to a child’s preparedness to engage in formal education and succeed in school. It encompasses a range of cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills that are necessary for a child to learn effectively in an academic setting. Academic readiness is often assessed before a child starts formal schooling, typically during the preschool years, to identify areas where support and intervention may be needed to ensure a smooth transition to school life.
Mother Child Stimulation
Mother-child stimulation, also known as mother-child interaction or mother-child play, refers to the positive and engaging interactions between a mother (or primary caregiver) and her child. This type of stimulation is essential for a child’s cognitive, emotional, and social development during the early years of life. It involves various activities that promote bonding, communication, and learning.
Vocational Training
The ultimate goal of vocational training for special children is to empower them to become contributing members of society, promoting their independence and self-esteem. It also helps break down barriers and challenge societal perceptions about the capabilities of individuals with disabilities. ICL works for this.
Behavior Therapy
Behavior therapy in a special school involves using evidence-based behavioral techniques to support students with special needs in modifying their behaviors and acquiring new skills. The primary goal of behavior therapy is to improve the students’ social, emotional, and academic functioning, allowing them to thrive in the educational environment. Behavior therapy is often provided by special education teachers, behavior specialists, or Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) working in collaboration with the school staff and parents.
Group Working
Group working in a special school refers to the practice of organizing students with special needs into small groups to engage in various learning activities and therapeutic interventions. Group work offers several benefits in a special school setting, as it provides opportunities for social interaction, skill development, peer support, and a sense of belonging. When implemented effectively, group work can enhance the overall educational experience and promote positive outcomes for students with diverse needs.
Speech & Language Therapy
Speech and Language Therapy (SLT), also known as Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) or Speech Therapy, is a specialized field of therapy that focuses on evaluating, diagnosing, and treating communication disorders and difficulties related to speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing. Speech and language therapists work with individuals of all ages, from infants to older adults, who experience challenges in communicating effectively.
